There were several early black neighborhoods in Alexandria. The neighborhoods were: The Berg, Colored Rosemont, The Bottoms (The Dip), Cross Canal, Fishtown, Hayti, The Hill, The Hump and Uptown. These neighborhoods pre-dated the civil war.
This site will list the people who lived in those neighborhoods during different, periods, from 1870 – 1965.
